Empire was unreadable. Multitude, on the other hand, is a great book--definitely a must read. Check out my comments on the book at:

ReplyDeleteI'm currently reading "Philosophy in the Time orf Terror: Dialogues with Jurgen Habermas and Jacques Derrida" and then I wlll be tackling Multitudes...
I read Empire and discussed every 100 or so pages with a reading group (Illinois State University interdisiciplinary scholars!). It was a difficult read--but we had a good group of scholars who brought a lot of perspectives to the task. Unfortunately it looks like I'll be reading Multitude on my own, but I have some more experience behind me...
Reading groups for books like these are key. David Harvey talks fondly of a reading group that he took part in, that re-read Marx's Capital over a decade until they got it down... where are the readers/thinkers?

I would go directly to Multitude as it is of "this" moment-in-time... (although it is weighty and long as well)
