Basic Questions to Ask About Your Essay

1) In your essay what are you calling attention to? Why?

2) What energy (purpose) or action (solutions) does your writing feed?

3) What is the intended audience for your essay and what voices/images are you using to communicate with them?

4) What connections are you making in your writing? Is there a clear relationship or development between your sources, evidence, and facts?

5) Are you engaging in a dialogue with anyone? Why or why not?
