(This is certainly going to set off Obama supporters, but these are the same questions/statements I have been hearing from many of my politically-aware comrades over the post-9/11 weekend. These are incendiary words and I believe it is necessary for you to read it right now--whether you agree or not. For those that don't know, Adolph Reed Jr. is a Political Scientist at the University of Pennsylvania. I would love to take one of his classes!!! Thanks to Jodi Dean for pointing this essay out. Finally, there are extenisve comments at the end of the piece. Prof. Reed takes us on a tour de force of transformations and other illusions associated with the Barack Obama phenomenon, as interpreted, conjured or hallucinated by the "left" - whoever that is. These certainly may be the End Days - but for what political tendencies? Will "progressivism" be transcended out of existence, along with race (with the exception of whites, of course)? We can all either patiently stay tuned, or we can seek answers from precocious youth, who are blessedly unburdened by experience. Could it be that nothing out of the ordinary is going on at all - just Power maintaining its grip?
