"My task which I am trying to achieve is, by the power of the written word, to make you hear, to make you feel--it is, above all, to make you see." -- Joseph Conrad (1897)
This American in Kentucky grew up on the pleasing ocean shores of San Diego, CA and he misses his mater pacific who nurtured this wild boy until he had to take off on adventures to find himself in strange lands (Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky--and believe me they are very, very strange, Ulysses had nothing on me in this). Ever since all large bodies of water have had a certain fascination ... I think I sense the rythyms of life in them and they provide me with a sense of calm/serenity.
So I would definitely be interested in a trip once you are settled in and feeling comfortable--I bet it is just as beautiful and breathtaking as Alberta...
Spring break is always a good time for me--wonder if we have similar breaks?
Speaking of your new francophone identity--I actually got a burnt disc of the best contemporary french music that a friend made for me (she is studying French and is an expert on good music). I thought you might like a copy--send me the new address when you are moved and I'll send it along.
Good luck and good fortune--on the move and new opportunities!
