I've long lamented that there are few good guides for the discriminating genre reader (in my case Fantasy/Science Fiction/Horror/Slipstream) luckily I stumbled upon Fantastic Metropolis which seems to be willing to step up and claim this role. At their site, China Mieville, author of King Rat and Perdido Street Station, presents a list of essential works for socialist readers (like me):
