Sign From 2004, Still Meaningful Today; Why I Support LiP Magazine
RNC Protests Gallery
The image is from LiP Magazine. I'm so impressed by this new magazine that I recently subscribed (a big decision as reading time--and funds--is limited) I highly recommended this publication, both the online site and their print edition. Here are examples of what is on their site right now!
Vandana Shiva Interview: The River vs. Water, Inc.
Chip Berlet: Conveying Correctness--The Prefabrication of Political Speech
Tim Wise: Of Natural Disasters and Otherwise
Lisa Jervis: If Women Ruled the World, Nothing Would Be Different
Jennifer Whitney: MAKE MEDIA, MAKE REAL TROUBLE--What's Wrong (and Right) with Indymedia
Tim Wise: What's the Matter With White Folks--Race Privilege, Electoral Politics and the Limits of Class Populism
I'm impressed by the range of their subjects, the quality of their essays, the sprinkling of big names with lesser known writers, and, very importantly, that they are reflective about their own perspectives. A recent issue was called "Sacred Cows" and it was composed of articles reflecting on the problems associated with certain frameworks/perspectives that the magazine supports (the last three links are examples).
