End of a Brief Hiatus

A tumultous academic and personal year left me exhausted and demoralized...

My first year as a tenure-track professor, a divorce, moving, lost love and new friends, left me little time to write/communicate. To add to the problems I was recently hurt in a biking accident in which the SUV won (adding to my continuing distaste for those monstrous denizens of my local streets) and my ribs lost out (I am walking again, but have a cracked/separated rib--I never knew a hiccup could hurt so much!)

I needed some time to disconnect and recharge. This coming week I will be rehooking up the Internet and plan to start regularly writing again (not just posting articles) to develop thoughts and mapping out perceptions.

I look forward to continuing our conversations my friends of the (im)possible...

Ricia,

Its good to hear from you.

Yes, it has given me a new appreciation for life--so to speak.

Thanks for the healing vibes, I missed you :)

Can you send me an email with your address again--in the move I misplaced it and I have some favorite CDs/DVDs I want to burn and send to you.

my deepest sympathies my friend..I too was the victim of an unfortunate accident, one involving a bozo running a red light at 50 mph...don't laugh or hiccup. It hurts like hell!!!

Glad to see you back and moving around. I have a tentative trip planned to visit Lexmark in September to negotiate some new terms...hoping to stop in and catch a class of yours and i promise to sit in the back and be a good boy and not try to convert the masses to my pagan ways!!!

Thanks Abby,

I hope you are doing better. While I still have my pantheist and anti-theist outlook, my politics have shifted from socialism to anarchist:

CrimethInc

You know you are welcome to visit anytime.

Thanks Okir,

Congratulations on the success of the first anthology--its good to see thriving independent publishing projects!

Ricia,

I know Crimethinc is a huge site full of many materials, so here is the clearest statement I have read from them (I ordered some materials and they sent this along) that has led me to recognize common cause with their project:

Fighting For Our Lives

True they are not practicing politics as most people may recoginze (on the right or the left), but then perhaps that is what is so appealing to me.

Sorry to hear about your ordeals. I hope you continue on the path of healing, in more ways than one.

In any case, here's looking forward to seeing you more around these parts...cheers. :)
