"My task which I am trying to achieve is, by the power of the written word, to make you hear, to make you feel--it is, above all, to make you see." -- Joseph Conrad (1897)
nice.*sigh* i need to have more fun, too....
Ricia,Come visit me and I'll take you hiking/camping/dinner/music/dancing (well maybe I'll have to practice my dancing a bit ;)
indeed that sounds much more fun than packing/moving/unpacking.. alas, my travel itinerary this summer is pretty darn practical in focus - and barely afforded at that. in fact, i'm not even capable of whats on my plate at present... its a shame really. i'm bidding farewell to friends whom set off to mountain trails and lakes and the like, whilst i shake up dust in my house. may i never, ever, own this much crrrrraaaap. ever. again.perhaps what is required here, is a trip out to francophone canada for one certain american in kentuky?! tho, it may take me 'til next spring to track the coastal region and find favourite spaces of refuge. i know these ranges out west as if they were my own... i'll miss the rocks... but the sea is plenty enough to satisfy too... yes?
This American in Kentucky grew up on the pleasing ocean shores of San Diego, CA and he misses his mater pacific who nurtured this wild boy until he had to take off on adventures to find himself in strange lands (Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky--and believe me they are very, very strange, Ulysses had nothing on me in this). Ever since all large bodies of water have had a certain fascination ... I think I sense the rythyms of life in them and they provide me with a sense of calm/serenity.So I would definitely be interested in a trip once you are settled in and feeling comfortable--I bet it is just as beautiful and breathtaking as Alberta...Spring break is always a good time for me--wonder if we have similar breaks?Speaking of your new francophone identity--I actually got a burnt disc of the best contemporary french music that a friend made for me (she is studying French and is an expert on good music). I thought you might like a copy--send me the new address when you are moved and I'll send it along.Good luck and good fortune--on the move and new opportunities!
hey... yes and another! to each proposal respectively! i'll drop a line once i have logistical particulars...tho i was raised in hills and fields, i've always followed the sea when travelling.. always, always. and its true me thinks, she is deep and frightening and inticing - like life itself...a bientot!
