Tax Statistics for 1998

The IRS just released the 1998 Tax statistics for individuals. Visit the site and look at the overall stats and then browse down and check out the stats for you zip code. I find that it is good to see the percentages for what people are making (in the official economy), for instance my parents live in San Diego, CA and in their modest community houses (very expensive in S. CA) are going for $300,000, yet 14,000 of the 27,000 tax forms filed for their zip code were for under 25 thousand dollars...

Individual Income Tax Return Data by ZIP Code, 1998 - The data include number of returns and personal exemptions, adjusted gross income, salaries and wages, taxable interest, total tax, number of Schedules C and F, and Schedule A deductions. The data are organized into State files, each containing the appropriate 5-digit ZIP codes. Each ZIP code, in turn, contains breakouts by size of adjusted gross income. See the data at:
