Cheers to Judy Bachrach, contributing editor at Vanity Fair, who criticized the outrageously expensive festivities for the Bush inaugural during a time of war (when we can't even fully arm or protect our soldiers). I commend her bravery--lets face it anyone in a public position who speaks out in this way risks possible retribution. Pay close attention to how the FOX announcer Brigitte Quinn attempts to defend FOX news' ideological position (unbiased--ha!):

Hello I am in a similar situation that you are in. I am working on my dissertation which is in the field of social theory and I have been interested in alternatives to Liberal democratic forms of polity, such as theoretical versions of social democracy; most notably Habermas' theory of communicative action. However, after taking a postmodern turn when entering into graduate school I am now more enticed by theories or sketchings produced by the later works of Derrida and Foucualt on social democracy both of which can be called a form of 'thin communitarianism,' which prevents individuals from being ensnared in rigid forms of communitarian control with oppressive positive rights and positive obligations with little focus on negative rights.
If you are interested in corresponding or, perhaps, engaging in some kind of project that bares some similarity to the themes that I enunciated above, then let me know. I have had it with the Green Party, and I am considering the Libertarians, but I cannot accept the logic of a free-market economy, which makes me somewhat reticent.
