Second Life

I'm very disturbed by the fact that my higher education institution feels the need to have a "presence" on second life. Is my revulsion just an old fashioned knee-jerk reaction... why does it feel so ridiculous?

Have you tried Second Life? Have you read any of the interesting and well written books about SL? Best bet is to visit SL and go to sites like the Stanford Library, or the SL University, Princeton, even Harvard and see what it is all about. As a Grad student I find SL to be ahead of its time (I said that the day domain names were made available and made good money on that investment) and would not be surprised if all websites eventually turn into virtual sites. Hope you enjoy!

What is it about Second Life that repulses you? I can't tell from your comment.

one thing that repulses me is that I have now received 15 anonymous comments promoting and/or defending second life ... I guess second life advocates don't have real world identities :P
