February 3: National Wear Red Day

(Message from Barbara Hoskins)

Remember to wear RED tomorrow to show your support for women’s heart disease awareness!

Heart Disease is the 1# Killer of Women

February 3, 2006 is National Wear Red Day

Only 57 percent of women know that heart disease is their leading cause of death and most fail to make the connection between risk factors- such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol – and their personal risk of developing heart disease. The Kentucky Commission on Women is raising public awareness about women and heart disease. Join us in this effort by participating in National Wear Red Day, February 3, 2006 - a day when Americans nationwide will red to show their support for women’s heart disease awareness.

The Heart Truth – a national campaign for women about heart disease sponsored by several leading health agencies and organizations- launched the Red Dress as the symbol for women and heart disease in February 2003. National Wear Red Day promotes the symbol and provides an opportunity for everyone to unite in this life-saving awareness movement by showing off a favorite red dress, shirt, tie, or Red Dress Pin.

M,

Thanks for the comment... its an important cause and as I live in the 49th ranked state for women's health I feel we should do all we can to help out.

Thivai... who makes a lot of noise, but hopefully treads softly on those he meets ;)
